About College

The College of Public Health and Tropical Medicine was established as a result of the restructuring of the College of Health for boys and the College of Health Sciences for girls in Jazan and was attached administratively, financially and academically to the University of Jazan by the decision of the Council of Higher Education No. 23/49/1429, adopted at its 44th meeting, held on 21/10/1427, after the approval 2011, and contained in letter No. 1694/a dated 20 Shaaban 1432 ah on the establishment of the College of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and thus join the government higher education institutions in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The College of Public Health and Tropical Medicine is one of the newest colleges in Jazan University, as well as the only college at the national and Gulf level that is concerned with the field of Tropical Medicine. The College of Public Health and Tropical Medicine emerged in response to the nature of Jazan’s weather, located in the tropical part of the country, which is characterized by the presence of health challenges that are different from other non-tropical areas. The College of Public Health and Tropical Medicine currently includes three active academic departments: Health Informatics, Epidemiology, and Health Education and Promotion. All of these programs are accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, and work is underway to obtain program accreditation from the National Center for Academic Evaluation and Accreditation (NCAAA). To obtain a bachelor's degree, the student must complete four academic years, spread over eight semesters, followed by a year of training (internship) where students are offered with the opportunity to gain practical experiences related to the field of their specialization. The College also plans to develop post-graduate programs that are driven by the health needs of the local and regional community and the labor market such as: master's degree in Tropical Medicine, master's degree in Maternal and Child Health, and Master's degree in Health Informatics.
