About the Department

The Department of English was established in the year 1431 AH, which corresponds to the year 2010. It began with preparatory levels where students study English language skills in addition to supporting materials. They then study language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) at the third and fourth levels. In the fifth level begins the study of literary materials (poetry – story – play) and linguistics (phonetics – morphology – linguistics) until the eighth level.
The number of credit hours according to the study plan (128 credit hours) distributed on eight levels and includes (110) hours of English language courses and (18) hours of support materials (courses of Arabic language and Islamic culture and educational courses in addition to an introduction in computer). After completing the eightlevels, the student is awarded a bachelor’s degree in English language

The English Language Program aspires to provide graduates with quality education and research skills to master theoretical knowledge and practical skills in fields of English Language and Literature to enable them contribute to community service whilst fulfilling the demands of local labour market.
